WHAT IS Botox?
Botox, short for Botulinum Toxin Type A, is a purified protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It has been used for decades in the medical field for various purposes, including treating muscle spasms and migraines. In cosmetic applications, Botox is injected into specific muscles to temporarily block nerve signals that cause them to contract, thus relaxing the muscles and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
WHAT IS Dysport? Coming Soon
Dysport is also derived from the same botulinum toxin type A as Botox. It works in a similar way by blocking nerve signals to muscles, thereby reducing muscle activity and smoothing out wrinkles. Dysport has a slightly different formulation than Botox, with smaller molecules, which some believe allows for faster onset of results.

BENEFITS OF Botox/Dysport
Botox offers a range of benefits, both cosmetic and medical. Here's a breakdown of its key advantages, information, and duration of effects:
-
Reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines: Botox injections relax the muscles responsible for causing wrinkles, particularly in areas such as the forehead, around the eyes (crow's feet), and between the eyebrows.
-
Creates a smoother, more youthful appearance: By softening facial lines and wrinkles, Botox can help individuals achieve a refreshed and rejuvenated look.
-
Prevents the formation of new wrinkles: Regular Botox treatments can prevent the development of new wrinkles by temporarily immobilizing targeted muscles.
Botox effects typically last between 3 to 6 months, depending on factors such as the individual's metabolism, the dosage administered, and the treated area.
To maintain optimal results, individuals may need periodic follow-up injections as recommended by their healthcare provider.
FAQ's ABOUT Botox/Dysport
These products are extremely similar in effect and duration. Many patients who have tried both products seem to be satisfied with both. However, like most things in life, some people do experience more satisfaction with one versus the other and client preference varies. On the scientific side of things, Botox and Dysport are different in areas such as molecular size. Dysport is smaller in molecular size which means it spreads over a broader area. This makes dilution ratios different and dosage is not interchangeable (ex. 20 units of Botox is equivalent to 50 units of Dysport).
It is expected that both of these products will last at least 90 days (for cosmetic treatment). On average patients are reinjected every three to four months but can vary from two to six. Individual metabolism and the number of units injected can affect longevity. Higher doses will likely produce better results with longer patient satisfaction.
FDA approved for ages 18 and up, age can vary considerably from one patient to the next. Prime candidates have wrinkles that are dynamic in nature. Or in other words, wrinkles that appear when a particular expression is made. Next, those with static wrinkles, or wrinkles that linger after an expression is not being made, are the next best candidate. Last, those with deep static wrinkles, lines that are considerable in depth when actions are not being forced will require more units per treatment and will not receive full correction of lines. However, overtime with repeated treatment deep static lines can improve.
In experienced hands these products are very safe and have undergone rigorous safety testing inorder to obtain FDA approval. Dysport and Botox both have excellent safety records. Botox has been used in the U.S. since 1991 and Dysport since 2009 in the U. S. and since 1990 in the E.U.
The simple answer is lack of movement that prevents creasing and line formation in the eye and forehead area. This can be preventative to decrease the chance of making permanent lines or corrective which can minimize the appearance of such lines and rejuvenate the eye area. For expectations to be met, each patient’s consultation is extremely important to ensure the provider can assess each individual’s desires and needs.
After the age of 18 one can choose to receive these treatments. We are all unique and have differences in muscle mass, expression and not to mention the all important DNA factor!! The best bet is to have a consultation with an experienced provider and have a proper assessment done.
Although the base chemical has been linked to cases of respiratory failure, muscle failure, pneumonia, speech disorders and more, Botox Cosmetic and Dysport alike, are extremely diluted forms of the botulinum toxin. It would take an extremely large amount to trigger any of the previous mentioned complications, way more than what is needed for a cosmetic treatment.
For facial treatment this is just not true. Chemical dependency and subsequent addiction can only form if the chemical affects your entire body. Botox and Dysport are designed to only affect the area of injection.
While popularized through the anti-aging treatment, this was actually a side effect when research was done to explore treatment of muscle spasms. It is used for excessive sweating in the palms and underarms, migraines, incontinence, muscle spasms and cerebral palsy.
Of course, having a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon or a trusted skin care specialist would be an important first step in making these decisions. If you have deep static lines, significant skin laxity, heavy or droopy eyelids, puffy under eyes or any combination of these signs of aging, you may be better suited as a surgical candidate. Oftentimes surgery and injectable treatments are utilized together for optimal results.

Uses: XEOMIN is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults for a short period of time (temporary). It is not known if XEOMIN is safe and effective in children under 18 years of age. Please see additional Important Safety Information below and Full Prescribing Information and Medication Guide at XeominAesthetic.com.
Warnings: XEOMIN may cause serious side effects that can be life threatening. Call your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of these problems anytime (hours to weeks) after treatment with XEOMIN:
Problems with swallowing, speaking, or breathing can happen within hours to weeks after an injection of XEOMIN if the muscles that you use to breathe and swallow become weak. Death can happen as a complication if you have severe problems with swallowing or breathing after treatment with XEOMIN.
People with certain breathing problems may need to use muscles in their neck to help them breathe and may be at greater risk for serious breathing problems with XEOMIN.
Swallowing problems may last for several months, and during that time you may need a feeding tube to receive food and water. If swallowing problems are severe, food or liquids may go into your lungs. People who already have swallowing or breathing problems before receiving XEOMIN have the highest risk of getting these problems.
Spread of toxin effects. In some cases, the effect of botulinum toxin may affect areas of the body away from the injection site and cause symptoms of a serious condition called botulism. The symptoms of botulism include: loss of strength and muscle weakness all over the body, double vision, blurred vision and drooping eyelids, hoarseness or change or loss of voice, trouble saying words clearly, loss of bladder control, trouble breathing, trouble swallowing.
These symptoms can happen hours to weeks after you receive an injection of XEOMIN. These problems could make it unsafe for you to drive a car or do other dangerous activities.
Do not use XEOMIN if you are allergic to XEOMIN or any of the ingredients in XEOMIN (see the end of this Guide for a list of ingredients in XEOMIN), had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin products such as rimabotulinumtoxinB (MYOBLOC®), onabotulinumtoxinA (BOTOX®, BOTOX® COSMETIC), or abobotulinumtoxinA (DYSPORT®) or have a skin infection at the planned injection site.

Xeomin® (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medication injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults. Xeomin® contains botulinum toxin type A, a protein purified from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
When you squint or frown, the muscles between your eyebrows contract, causing the skin to furrow and fold. Over time, as your skin ages and loses some of its elasticity, these repeated contractions can cause persistent frown lines. Botulinum toxin type A – the active ingredient in Xeomin®– acts on nerve endings in muscles to prevent muscle fibers from contracting. By reducing these contractions, Xeomin® can temporarily reduce the lines between your eyebrows.
Xeomin® was proven effective in two randomized, double-blind, multicenter, placebo-controlled clinical trials of 547 healthy, adult patients. The average age of patients in the study was 46 years. Patients received 20 Units of Xeomin® and were classified as responders if they had a 2-grade improvement on a 4-point scale as assessed by the physician and patient. Using these criteria, treatment success was higher with Xeomin® than placebo on Day 30 in both studies (60% and 48% vs. 0% for placebo in both studies). Based on these trials, Xeomin® received FDA approval for use in glabellar lines in 2011.
Before receiving treatment with Xeomin®, you should tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including whether you have a disease that affects your muscles and nerves, have allergies to any botulinum toxin product, or have experienced any side effect from any other botulinum toxin in the past. In addition, tell your doctor about your medical history and all the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Especially tell your doctor if you have received any other botulinum toxin product in the last four months or in the past. Be sure your doctor knows exactly which product(s) you received and when you received them.
During treatment, which usually takes about 10-20 minutes, your doctor will inject Xeomin® into the muscles in your forehead that cause frown lines between your eyebrows. No anesthesia is required; however, your physician may use a topical anesthetic or cold pack to reduce any discomfort.
If you are an adult with moderate to severe glabellar lines, Xeomin® may be right for you. Talk to your doctor to discuss the benefits and risks of treatment. Do not use Xeomin® if you are allergic to botulinum toxin or any of the other ingredients in Xeomin®. You should also not use Xeomin® if you have had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product or have a skin infection at the planned injection site.
You may begin to see visible smoothing as early as 3-4 days after injection. The median first onset of effect was less than a week. The maximum effect occurred at 30 days. The typical duration of effect was up to 3 months in clinical trials but may last significantly longer or shorter in individual patients.
Xeomin® may cause serious side effects, including allergic reactions. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to Xeomin® may include: itching, rash, redness, swelling, wheezing, asthma symptoms, or dizziness or feeling faint.
Tell your doctor or seek medical help right away if you have wheezing, experience other asthma symptoms, or if you become dizzy or faint. In clinical trials of Xeomin® for the treatment of frown lines between the eyebrows, headache was the most common side effect. Xeomin® may cause loss of strength or general muscle weakness, blurred vision, or drooping eyelids within hours to weeks of taking Xeomin®.
If this happens, do not drive a car, operate machinery, or do other dangerous activities. Tell your doctor if you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not subside. These are not all of the possible side effects of Xeomin®. For more information, see accompanying Full Prescribing Information including Medication Guide, or ask your doctor.
Looking plastic or overdone is a common concern among individuals considering an in-office treatment for moderate to severe frown lines.* Talk to your licensed, trained, healthcare professional. There are steps you can take to make you feel more comfortable. First, have a detailed discussion with your provider. You want to talk through every concern you have, until you feel comfortable. Your provider, who is experienced in facial anatomy, can determine the right options for you. For example, the most widely used procedure for moderate to severe frown lines is neurotoxin injections, a class of prescription medication that has been shown to be effective in many studies. Finally, ask for an FDA-approved product, such as Xeomin®. Individual results may vary.

WHAT IS Daxxify?
Daxxify is a recently FDA-approved neuromodulator that’s used to treat frown lines—also known as glabellar lines. These are the vertical lines that appear between the eyebrows. It can also be used off-label to treat other areas of the face, such as crow’s feet, forehead lines, neck bands, and dimples on the chin. It’s also effective when injected into the masseter muscles of the jaw to reduce bulkiness, as well as easing the teeth grinding and clenching associated with TMJ.
The scientific name for the product is daxibotuliniumtoxinA-lanm—there’s a tongue-twister if ever we heard one… You might also hear it referred to as “Daxi”, something that’s far easier to remember. When injected into the face, it delivers the botulinum toxin to the nerves below using a unique peptide technology. This temporarily paralyzes the muscles below, causing them to relax, and voila! The lines disappear…

FAQ's ABOUT Daxxify
Daxxify is FDA-approved to smooth moderate to severe lines between the brows. It is the only long-lasting frown line treatment powered by a peptide with results that last on average 6 months and up to 9 months for some.*
The active ingredient in DAXXIFY® is a purified protein called botulinum toxin type A.
*At least 50% of patients in clinical studies had no or minor frown lines 6 months after treatment. Between 3% and 5% of patients in clinical studies had no or minor frown lines 9 months after treatment. In other safety studies, between 5% and 17% of patients still had noticeable improvement 9 months later.
Is your frown line treatment not lasting as long as you would like? If so, Daxxify could be the solution for you. Discuss your treatment goals with your aesthetic services provider at Academic Alliance in Dermatology.
If you’re like most people, you probably get a frown line treatment around twice a year. But here’s the thing: conventional treatments only last 3–4 months. That means you may spend the next 2-3 months of the year with those frown lines staring back at you between treatments. That’s up to 4-6 months of total wear-off time per year!
Daxxify is different. With those same 2 treatment visits, you can keep your frown lines smoother for a full year!
You may see results with Daxxify as early as the next day after treatment, and typically within two days.
Perhaps the greatest benefit of DAXXIFY is it saves the hassle of frequent trips to the office for touch-ups. With other injectables, it’s often necessary to schedule appointments three to four time a year to maintain results. With DAXXIFY, patients may only need to visit once or twice a year.
In addition, in one DAXXIFY study, 95.7% of participants reported being somewhat satisfied, satisfied, or very satisfied with their results after four weeks, with the highest number of participants describing themselves as very satisfied.
Here are additional benefits:
Lasts longer than other neuromodulators.
Smooths crow’s feet, frown lines, and horizontal forehead lines.
Fast, convenient, and comfortable.
Minimally invasive in-office treatment.
Results can last six to nine months in most patients.

The Daxxify treatment process begins with a comprehensive consultation at Forever Young Complete Healthcare. Our skilled aesthetic professionals will evaluate your skin concerns and treatment goals to develop a personalized Daxxify treatment plan.
During the treatment, the Daxxify device uses tiny, painless electrical microcurrents to stimulate specific facial muscles and increase collagen production in the targeted area. The treatment is typically comfortable and relaxing, with some clients experiencing a slight tingling sensation as the microcurrents are applied.
Immediately following a Daxxify session, you may notice a visible improvement in the treated area’s skin laxity and texture. The full extent of the rejuvenating effects will continue to develop over the following weeks as increased collagen production enhances the skin’s firmness and elasticity.
BOTOX Cosmetic and other neurotoxins are made from what’s known as human serum albumin.
DAXXIFY doesn’t contain any human or animal products and is instead made from peptides, which are short chains of compounds called amino acids. This makes DAXXIFY the only neuromodulator that’s free of human serum albumin or animal-based components.
It is the use of peptides that may help make DAXXIFY last longer as a wrinkle-smoother, but more research is needed to fully understand this.
There’s a common misconception that neurotoxins make you look older once they wear off. On the contrary, regular injections of neurotoxins – DAXXIFY included – make you look younger even after the product wears off.
The frozen look is often the result of an improperly placed injection, and the best way to avoid this unfortunate outcome is to make sure you’re seeing an experienced, trained injector. Make sure to pick someone who is medically qualified – such as the injectors at Soho international glo.
When an injection is placed correctly, the chances of side effects may be reduced. However, injections placed imprecisely or in excess can cause temporary side effects, such as the frozen look or temporary flattening or drooping of your eyebrow, which is why consulting with a qualified professional is key.
So, don’t be afraid to ask questions to get to know your injector’s qualifications and history. Choose someone who is familiar with the product being injected and can plan exactly where to inject to give you the effect you are looking for. Finally, don’t be afraid to ask for before-and-after photos. Take a good look at the injector’s previous work to see if it matches what you want to achieve with your face.
